Willospeed Sleddogs is Leigh and Sam Marsden's Sprint Racing Kennel.
The kennel started over 14 years ago with Leigh's first Siberian Husky Friskey closely followed by Zara these became his first two dog team, followed by Rogue and Jedi (bread by Darren and Lorraine Le Ferve , Kegluneq) making a very fast four dog and winning the ABSA Four Dog Championship in 2002, Rogue and Jedi Became too fast for Friskey and Zara and the four were split back into a two dog teams, Rogue and Jedi going on to win endless amounts of two dog classes and Friskey and Zara were given the task to teach Sam how to become a musher!
We have grown considerably over the years adding Raven Pyper and Chivas from Vanessa Pirrie (Ulanude). Breeding our own from Rogue using Bifrost Campese at stud owned by Julie and Brian Collins (Bifrost) from this litter we kept three pups Evo, Scarlet and Marv, the fourth Havock went to our very good Friends Cathy Croman and Mark Tillier (Cromartyzero). Later we added Sam's Smooth Collie Tabitha (winner of best puppy in breed at Crufts 2008) then Ginny nick named pig, the German Shorthaired Pointer. Ginny was intended to be Sam's show dog but she didn't like it and wanted to be a Sleddog instead. Ginny showed excellent attitude in harness and is now running in lead position on the teams.
In 2009 more madness hit our household in the arrival of Millie and Molly, Scandinavian Hounds bread by Max and Heidi Wightman (Kingstand) and the birth of our mini musher Rohn William Marsden. In 2010 Leigh was lucky enough to go and stay with friends in Sweden and experience Mushing on the white stuff! While he was out there he had the good fortune of meeting Marc Pementier and Maryse Keppens whom we got our final dog Soul from that summer. We have been training hard in building a young four dog open sprint team for the future comprising of Soul, Ginny, Millie and Molly. We have put this team through the pet passport scheme and are now entered to compete at the IFSS World Championships in Norway March 2011.
